Roboswarm submerged

RoboswarmSubmerged Edition

About our project

We first talked to an expert in underwater research, Mr. Andrew White with the Great Lakes Science Center (part of the USGS). Mr. White told us about his research and taught us about the round robey, an invasive specie impacting our water.

Mr. White showed us pictures and videos of one of the submersibles that his team uses. "Iver" was the name of their submersible. "Iver" had a lot of really cool features. After listening we made of lists of things we liked and some solutions to issues.

  • We liked that they used AI to look through the photos.
  • We learned that the submersible is very expensive.
  • We learned the the submersible is heavy (120 pounds)
  • We learned the the submersible is big (8 ft) and difficult to get in and out of the research boat.

Our idea was to make keep the AI camera but make it much smaller and way cheaper.
